March 18th, 2008, saw the passing of Sir Arthur Charles Clarke.
He inspired numerous people around the world to look up, study the heavens, and build vessels to travel there.
His numerous science and science fiction works inspired many to contemplate and contribute to space and science.
Many solar sailors were inspired by his short story Sunjammer (also known as The Wind from the Sun), about a solar sail yacht race.
It appeared in publications from the March 1964 Boy's Life, the 1990 anthology Project: Solar Sail, and the Cosmos 1 CD (which contains the full text).
